Class Description

Restorative Postnatal Yoga in San Francisco: End the day with this all-levels Restorative Postnatal Yoga practice, also known as restorative postpartum yoga, designed for new mamas in the fourth trimester in San Francisco. Settle into rest, relaxation, and realignment with a series of supported restorative yoga postures that slow down the body and mind. Expect plenty of props and gentle poses that open the muscles and fascia, offering relief from the repetitive strain of lifting, carrying, and nursing. This cozy postnatal yoga class focuses on soothing the body, deepening the breath, calming the nervous system, and clearing the mind — supporting postpartum recovery and postpartum healing during this tender stage. Created to support the needs of new postpartum parents within the fourth trimester, this restorative yoga practice is also an invitation to foster a sense of self-nurturing, rest, and postpartum self-care.

about the Facilitator

  • Sofia Carbone

Sofía Carbone (pronouns: she, they, ella, elle), began her yoga studies under the mentorship of Leonora Willis, Indigenous birthworker and yoga teacher from Samoa. Currently, as a certified perinatal yoga teacher, she brings tenderness and vitality to her yoga practice. She applies a trauma-informed and flexible approach to foster safety, inclusion, and transparency. She hopes these practices cultivate care, strength, grounding, self-determination, self-love, and collective power. As a compañera in a period of reproductive transformation and transition, She helps bring awareness to sensations and breath through visualizations and uplift one’s ability to take up space through movement. Together, we move through tending to the changing body and mind with the breath and cultivate each individual’s sovereignty for self-empowerment when navigating any stage of their reproductive journey. She has ten years of experience working in women-led organizations and teams focused on sexual and reproductive health in varying contexts around the globe. With a Master of Public Health from Brown University, Sofia is a a college faculty member at City College of San Francisco. In addition, she is the founder and CEO of Venus in Cancer, a community-centered online boutique.
