Bond With Your Baby While Being Active, Join Us At Mama Roots Collective
Class Description
Mama & Baby Yoga in San Francisco: This all-levels postnatal yoga class is created to support the unique needs of new postpartum mamas and their babies. Also known as mommy and me yoga or mom and baby yoga, this medium-paced flow provides relief from the repetitive activities of lifting, carrying, and feeding, while focusing on alignment and strength. Mamas can also increase flexibility, restore energy, and tone the pelvic floor and core through gentle postpartum recovery movement. This weekly postnatal yoga ritual is also an invitation to bond and build community with other parents and infants of pre-crawling age.

about the Facilitator
Sofia Carbone
Sofía Carbone (pronouns: she, they, ella, elle), began her yoga studies under the mentorship of Leonora Willis, Indigenous birthworker and yoga teacher from Samoa. Currently, as a certified perinatal yoga teacher, she brings tenderness and vitality to her yoga practice. She applies a trauma-informed and flexible approach to foster safety, inclusion, and transparency. She hopes these practices cultivate care, strength, grounding, self-determination, self-love, and collective power. As a compañera in a period of reproductive transformation and transition, She helps bring awareness to sensations and breath through visualizations and uplift one’s ability to take up space through movement. Together, we move through tending to the changing body and mind with the breath and cultivate each individual’s sovereignty for self-empowerment when navigating any stage of their reproductive journey. She has ten years of experience working in women-led organizations and teams focused on sexual and reproductive health in varying contexts around the globe. With a Master of Public Health from Brown University, Sofia is a a college faculty member at City College of San Francisco. In addition, she is the founder and CEO of Venus in Cancer, a community-centered online boutique.
