Class Description
Expanding Your Coping Capacity for Labor: A Natural Birth Pain Coping Class in San Francisco. Join a certified nurse midwife in this class designed to help you increase your pain coping capacity for an unmedicated, natural birth. Labor isn't something you survive — it's something you move through. You've done the reading. Maybe you've even taken a childbirth class. And you're still not confident you can handle the pain. That's not a failure — it's a signal that you need something different. This workshop isn't about memorizing stages or packing your bag. It's about building the kind of inner capacity that lets you stay present, soft, and grounded when labor gets intense, using real labor pain coping techniques and breath awareness — instead of bracing, tensing, and waiting for it to be over.
This workshop is for you if:
- You've taken a birth class, or done some reading and learning on your own, and still feel unprepared. You secretly wonder if you can "handle the pain."
- You're planning an unmedicated birth, want to labor at home as long as possible, or just want more natural pain management tools in your labor toolkit — whatever your birth plan may be.
- You've heard that labor is an "altered state," but you're not quite sure what that means or how to navigate it.
- You suspect there's more to birth prep than learning facts and memorizing information.
- You are a partner or support person who actually wants to help — not just stand there and feel helpless.

**Recommended to be taken 28-38 weeks gestation (third trimester)
